This children's picture book revolves around the theme of "gravity," drawing inspiration from the story of Newton being hit by an apple and subsequently discovering the law of universal gravitation. The story unfolds around the inspiration sparked by the apple, viewing it as a form of enlightenment akin to Newton's revelation in the field of physics. However, if the apple were to hit individuals from different professional backgrounds, such as a chef, an architect, or even a small bear, how would their thoughts and imaginations differ? Each character gains unique insights and experiences from the fall of the apple. Finally, through Newton's explanation, the story elucidates the existence of gravity, revealing the reason why the apple is attracted to the Earth and guiding readers to a deeper understanding of physical phenomena.
In this story, the apple represents more than just a fruit; it carries more profound significance, symbolizing the various moments of inspiration encountered in daily life. It also emphasizes that everyone has the potential to discover new things as long as they maintain curiosity and an open mind. Each person can find their own "apple" of inspiration.
The entire work maintains a light and cheerful rhythm. In the creative process, I utilized coloured pencils to create initial textures, subsequently scanning the artwork into digital drawing software for further refinement, rendering the story more vivid and texture. Regarding colour schemes, I opted for red and green as primary tones to represent the apple's characteristics while also cultivating a positive atmosphere rich in imagination and exploration. Minimizing text enables children to immerse themselves more deeply in the visuals, experiencing the story's plot, rhythm, and emotions; it encourages children to maintain an open mind, courageously stay curious, explore worlds, and unearth ideas and creativity.
